About Me

My love for the Great Outdoors began with my first camping trip at the age of three and continued as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout growing up. My passion become my purpose when I chose a career in camp and outdoor recreation.

I have worked in the outdoor industry for over the past twenty years with camps and outdoor recreation programs in non-profit, municipal, and university settings. I have held certifications for climbing, paddling, and wilderness medicine. I have also served as a freelance writer for over the past decade, including Outdoor Adventure Editor for Ohio Sports & Fitness Magazine, before relocating to North Carolina. Most recently, I have served as a freelance writer for Carolina Parent Magazine.

My greatest adventure in life is being a father to our four children and a husband to my wife. For me, it doesn’t get any better than sharing my love for the Great Outdoors with our children. In 2013, we followed our family’s dream of relocating to North Carolina and since then have enjoyed exploring North Carolina’s beauty, from the mountains to the coast, and everywhere in between.

My goals for this blog are:
